About this role

Wildpack Beverages is looking for a Maintenance Manager who oversees the maintenance department. This position provides technical knowledge for automation, controls, instruments, and electronic diagnostics, working independently and managing maintenance personnel to perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks.

Technical skill sets include understanding and interpreting process drawings (P&ID), programmable logic controller’s (PLC) programs, with an emphasis on Allen Bradley based systems, knowledge of machine I/O, troubleshooting PLCs, motor control systems and control networks within the brewery. There is an expectation to establish proper preventative and proactive maintenance strategies utilizing a CMMS and grow the skills and knowledge of the Maintenance team.

A day in the life: What you do


  • Continuously improving manufacturing processes in terms of quality and performance measurements and identifying and eliminating bottleneck areas.
  • Ensure that systems are in place & followed to maintain reliability of the equipment & processes.
  • Identify and solve safety concerns encountered during design and study of manufacturing processes
  • Devise hands on improvement processes to reduce scrap and defects while improving throughput and document SOPs and the implementation of Best Practices into the facility.
  • Coordinate the installation of new equipment to maximize production efficiency and maintainability.
  • Work with production to make modifications to equipment and work areas for maximum efficiency of operation
  • Maintain a knowledge base in the capacity of existing utilities and the current level of utilization.
  • Stay abreast of the latest safety, environmental and other regulations which affect the facility to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the equipment and the facility to ensure the company receives maximum utilization of its assets.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory to ensure critical spare part inventory is maintained.
  • Inspect machines and equipment for hazards, operating efficiency, malfunctions, wear, and leaks.
  • Troubleshoot, electrical components such as motors, motor starters, fuses, disconnects, instrumentation, relays, switches, position sensors and printed circuit boards.
  • Maintains ownership and accountability in daily operations and plant results.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements to product manufacturability.
  • Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per Wildpack quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards.
    1. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance.
  • Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with other repairs and PM’s when needed.
  • Oversee the development of the maintenance team

Qualifications: What you know

  • 5+ years of experience managing a maintenance department. Previous experience in a food or beverage manufacturing facility is highly preferred, especially with filling and packaging equipment
  • BS in engineering or technical college in a related field preferred
  • Experience with conducting root cause analysis, utilization of predictive tools such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, ultrasonic & infrared analysis
  • Experience with managing a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).
  • Areas of expertise should include some /all the following: electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, plumbing and computer skills
  • Technical and analytical knowledge around manufacturing processes.
  • A high competence and background in electrical systems required, along with broad knowledge of industrial electrical systems and power distribution.
  • Automation (STL and ladder logic) and CAD knowledge preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a track record of growing a team required.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

  • Able to lift 50-60 lbs., must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. throughout shift
  • Able to climb ladders up to 20 feet.
  • Able to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift.
  • Able to work in an environment with high noise levels.
  • Able to bend at the knees to lift objects and kneel, along with the ability to crouch, and able to work in tight/cramped spaces and/or in awkward positions for extended periods of time.
  • Able to frequently duck under conveyors/equipment.
  • Able to climb stairs multiple times during a shift.
  • Able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Close and distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus and the ability to see color, either with or without accommodation.
  • The ability to work in loud, wet, cold, hot, indoor, and outdoor environments frequently.
  • Able to work with and use potentially hazardous chemicals, using safety guidelines and PPE.
