It provides nutritious foods, education on healthy eating, breastfeeding support, and referrals to healthcare and other social services for low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and children up to age five who are at nutritional risk. The goal of WIC is to improve health outcomes for mothers and young children by ensuring access to essential nutrition and resources.

What kind of training do WIC Program employees receive?

WIC Program employees typically receive training on nutrition education, breastfeeding support, program policies, and data entry systems. Training often includes both classroom instruction and on-the-job training to ensure staff are knowledgeable about WIC services and federal guidelines.
