Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing products within assigned categories while balancing inventory levels, customer service, product availability, and profitability. Depending on experience and business needs, buyers may oversee one or more product categories.

This position works closely with Sales, Warehouse Operations, and suppliers to ensure our customers receive the products they need while maintaining efficient inventory levels.

Responsibilities

• Purchase products within assigned categories.

• Manage inventory levels to support customer demand while minimizing excess inventory.

• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.

• Negotiate pricing, promotional opportunities, and supply agreements.

• Monitor market conditions, pricing trends, and product availability.

• Review inventory movement and purchasing trends.

• Work closely with Sales regarding customer demand and special opportunities.

• Coordinate with Warehouse Operations to improve inventory flow.

• Help introduce new products and manage product transitions.

• Resolve purchasing, vendor, and inventory issues as they arise.

• Maintain accurate purchasing information within company systems.

• Previous buying experience in wholesale food distribution.

• Strong understanding of inventory management.
