Position Summary
Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment? Whitworth University is seeking two dedicated evening custodians to play a pivotal role in maintaining our beautiful campus. If you take pride in your work and are ready to be part of a dynamic team, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for!
As a Custodian at Whitworth University, you will be an integral part of our Facilities Services team, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive campus environment. Your work will directly impact the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff, and contribute to the overall excellence of Whitworth University.
There are two openings available, with schedules as follows: Thursday to Monday working from 2 PM to 10:30 PM, and Friday to Tuesday working from 2 PM to 10:30 PM. The final schedules will be confirmed with the selected candidates before their first day of employment, ensuring that all arrangements are tailored to university operations and their individual availability.
Core Responsibilities
  • Cleaning tasks encompass, but are not limited to, vacuuming, buffing, stripping, waxing, carpet care, and polishing across various buildings such as administrative, academic, resident halls, athletic facilities, and theme houses.
  • Move furnishings, equipment, and other items as needed.
  • Shovel snow and remove ice from sidewalks up to 20 feet from building entrances.
  • Maintain inventory levels.
  • Identify and submit work orders via electronic and/or written documentation.
  • Communicate daily assignments to student workers who may work in your building.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all Whitworth University constituents, including students, employees, guests, and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six months of experience in building or institutional custodial work is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • SDS knowledge preferred (OSHA on how to properly handle and use cleaning chemicals).
