Position SummaryThe
Light-Duty Tow Truck Driver is the frontline hero customers count on when everything goes wrong. From operating flatbeds and wheel-lift trucks to handling breakdowns, accident recoveries, and vehicle transports, this driver brings skill, confidence, and calm to every call. This role demands sharp driving ability, mechanical know-how, and the physical strength to tackle hands-on tasks in
any weather-rain, heat, cold, or chaos. As the face of the company on the roadside, the driver delivers
professionalism, safety,and exceptional customer service, turning stressful situations into smooth, reliable solutions.
Key Responsibilities - Operate light-duty tow trucks (flatbed/rollback and wheel-lift) to tow or transport passenger vehicles.
- Perform roadside services such as jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel deliveries.
- Load, secure, and transport vehicles in accordance with company and DOT safety standards.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding job status, delays, hazards, and customer needs.
- Provide professional customer service, including explaining procedures and ensuring customer safety.
- Complete required paperwork, digital logs, and service documentation accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized truck and equipment.
- Respond to calls during nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Required Qualifications - Valid driver's license (Class E or equivalent); CDL not required but preferred.
- Clean driving record meeting company and insurance requirements.
- Prior towing or roadside assistance experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to operate tow equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
Physical Requirements - Lift, pull, and carry 50-75 lbs. regularly (dollies, tie-downs, toolboxes, vehicle parts).
- Operate winches, levers, and manual controls requiring upper-body strength.
- Push or maneuver disabled vehicles in tight spaces when necessary.
- Perform repeated bending, kneeling, climbing, and crouching during loading and service tasks.
