What are WG jobs?

WG stands for 'Wage Grade' and refers to a category of federal jobs in the United States that are paid based on an hourly wage rather than an annual salary. These positions are typically in trades, crafts, and labor occupations, such as maintenance, mechanics, and custodial work. WG jobs fall under the Federal Wage System (FWS), which ensures fair and consistent pay for federal employees performing similar work in different locations. The pay rates for WG jobs are determined by local wage surveys to reflect prevailing rates for similar work in the area.
