Job description

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Catering to lead our banquet and catering sales operations and deliver exceptional experiences consistent with Westin brand standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Arlington, VA hospitality market, with proven experience in event planning across all segments, client relations, and team leadership.


This role requires a strategic, business minded leader who can grow catering revenue, develop strong client relationships, and ensure every event reflects the quality, service, and standards of the Westin brand.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all banquet and catering sales operations, ensuring exceptional service, quality, and adherence to Westin brand standards.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive catering revenue, profitability, and market share within the Arlington, VA market.
  • Grow and manage the social catering business, including weddings, celebrations, milestone events, and other social functions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local clients, businesses, event professionals, community partners, and vendors.
  • Lead, train, and develop the catering team, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.
  • Partner closely with culinary, operations, sales, and event teams to ensure seamless execution and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Manage catering budgets, forecasts, financial reporting, pricing, and profitability.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with clients and suppliers while protecting hotel profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and brand standards.
  • Stay current with hospitality, event, and catering trends and introduce innovative offerings that strengthen the hotel’s competitive position.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of catering or hospitality management experience, preferably in a hotel or full-service hospitality environment.
  • Proven experience and established relationships within the Arlington, VA or Northern Virginia market strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in social catering, including weddings, celebrations, and other social events.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to Westin brand standards and service excellence.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain high-performing teams.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, forecasts, pricing, and revenue goals.
  • Excellent communication, sales, negotiation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency with catering management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
