Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Highlights:

  • Self-scheduling options available four weeks in advance to ensure predictability in your work hours.
  • A culture that fosters mutual respect and teamwork among all surgical personnel.
  • Ongoing investment in advanced equipment, including surgical tools and patient positioning devices, to enhance safety and workflow in the Operating Room.
  • Regular meetings with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your input is valued regarding patient care and surgical processes.
  • On-call duties required during specific non-business hours.

Your Responsibilities in This Role:

  • Assess patients prior to surgical procedures.
  • Educate patients and their families about the procedure and the peri-operative process.
  • Take charge of patient preparation, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and verifying surgical sites.
  • Engage in surgical site verification processes, including briefings, time-outs, debriefings, and adherence to universal protocols as per hospital policy.
  • Identify and respond to patient emergencies effectively.
  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care while implementing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate as a vital member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, including providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, and others.
  • Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently.
  • Monitor patient conditions throughout your shift, documenting any changes and the care provided.
  • Inform patients and their families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment options, and follow-up care.
Qualifications Required:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Diploma in Nursing or an Associate Degree in Nursing.
