How would you like to work in a place where your contributions and ideas are valued? A place where you can serve with compassion, pursue excellence and honor every voice? At Wellstar, our mission is simple, yet powerful: to enhance the health and well-being of every person we serve. We are proud to have become a shining example of what's possible when the brightest professionals dedicate themselves to making a difference in the healthcare industry, and in people's lives.

Work Shift Job Title: Emergent Psychiatrist Location: Columbia County, GA Employer: Wellstar Health System - Columbia County

WellStar Health System is committed to investing in the communities we serve. We continue to develop innovative care models, focused on improving quality and access to healthcare. To this end, the WellStar Medical Group and Behavioral Health Service Line is excited to announce an opportunity for an outpatient adult psychiatrist to support community needs in Columbia County - one of the fastest growing counties in Georgia.

Wellstar Health System is a not-for-profit 11-hospital system, recognized as one of the most integrated health system in the United States. Wellstar is one of the largest health systems in Georgia, and the first health system in Georgia to be recognized by the American Medical Association with Silver distinction as a Joy in Medicine awardee for its commitment to improving the well-being of physicians. Wellstar is a member of the Mayo Clinic Network and a strategic partner of Augusta University (i.e. Medical College of Georgia). As partners, Wellstar-MCG offers an opportunity for psychiatrists to experience the best of both worlds - maintaining connectivity to a Department of Psychiatry & Health Behavior with a rich history, while working within an integrated health system that serves the needs of the local community. This is an opportunity to join with a network of physicians representing different specialties to meet holistic patient needs.

Overview of Duties/Responsibilities This position is located in Grovetown, Georgia and integrated into a new Medical Office Building (MOB), adjacent to the new Columbia County hospital. Within the MOB, the psychiatrist will work alongside a clinical health psychologist, an addiction medicine trained internist, and a team of primary care physicians, obstetricians, and other medical subspecialists.

This is a full-time 40 hour per week position, with time allocated to the provision of outpatient psychiatric services. In this clinic setting, new patient appointments are 60 minutes and follow-up appointments 30 minutes. The psychiatrist will benefit from the support of a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or medical assistant (MA) to room patients, take vital signs, and assist in other ancillary clinical tasks. The psychiatrist will primarily conduct clinical interviews, develop treatment plans, and provide medication management, including long-acting injectables (LAI) when needed. (S)He will document all patient encounters using Epic, Wellstar's electronic health record. In addition to primary clinical responsibilities, the psychiatrist will participate in treatment team and practice operations meetings and intermittently consult with Wellstar's suicide prevention case managers or other clinical support services to aid in the care and safety of patients.

The ideal candidate is one who is team-oriented, possessing a commitment to collaboration, active listening skills, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and strong decision-making acumen. (S)He should have an unwavering commitment to quality and patient safety and should be comfortable working with adults across the lifespan with various psychiatric conditions. Given the increased relevance of offering virtual care, the psychiatrist should be technologically savvy, able to manage the challenges and connectivity issues that sometimes arise through virtual care. (S)He should display patience with individuals who are unfamiliar with technology and maintain emotional flexibility to manage the nuances associated with delivering virtual healthcare.

Required Minimum Education: (1) completion of a medical degree (MD/DO), (2) completion of general ACGME psychiatry residency training program, (3) license to practice psychiatry in the State of Georgia; and (4) ABPN board-certification (or board-eligibility)
