Job description

Position Summary

The Well Water Service Laborer assists with residential and commercial well water service, installation, maintenance, repairs, and general job-site operations.  This position works alongside experienced well technicians and provides hands-on support to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist technicians with installation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of well water equipment and components.
  • Assist with installation of well pumps, pressure tanks, piping, controls, water treatment equipment and components.
  • Dig, trench, and backfill as needed for service and installation.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize tools, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Operate basic hand tools under the direction of a technician.
  • Assist with pulling, installing, and securing pumps, pipes, wiring, and other well components.
  • Help diagnose and troubleshoot well water system issues under supervision.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and job sites.
  • Assist with preparing vehicles, tools, and equipment for daily service calls.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and maintain a courteous, respectful presence on job sites.  All customer questions should be answered by lead technician.
  • Perform general maintenance and cleanup of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Complete other labor and service-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous construction, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, mechanical, or well-service experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in confined/tight spaces including but not limited to crawl spaces, basements, utility rooms in customers homes.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, digging, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working around machinery, tools, water systems, and excavation areas.
  • Basic mechanical ability and willingness to learn.
  • Valid NJ drivers license required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • During 3 month probationary period, must be willing to take and pass required DOT exam (ie; eye exam).
  • Must be dependable, punctual, hardworking, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.

Work Environment

This position involves working primarily outdoors at residential and commercial properties.  Work may involve all weather types (extreme heat/humidity and cold/frigid temperatures), muddy, wet, uneven, or confined job sites and may require early mornings, extended hours, or occasional emergency service work.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience ($15.92-$35.00 per hour) - Paid weekly
  • Guaranteed Minimum of 20 hours a week.
  • Opportunities for advancement and training.
  • Commission
  • No overtime unless necessary.
