Job Title: Quality Control InspectorJob Description

The Quality Control Inspector plays a key role in supporting structural steel and industrial fabrication operations by ensuring that fabricated materials, weldments, and assemblies consistently meet project specifications, customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality expectations. This position focuses on visual and dimensional inspection, documentation of quality results, and collaboration with production and project teams to drive continuous improvement and uphold a strong culture of quality excellence on complex industrial, semiconductor, data center, and advanced manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough visual, dimensional, and quality inspections of fabricated steel components and assemblies throughout the fabrication lifecycle.
  • Verify that materials, welds, and assemblies comply with project specifications, shop drawings, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Inspect welds and fabrication processes to ensure conformance with AWS D1.1, AWS D1.8, and internal company quality requirements.
  • Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections to confirm that products meet all required quality criteria before progressing to the next stage.
  • Use inspection equipment such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools to validate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Identify non-conforming materials, workmanship, or processes and clearly document and communicate these findings to production supervisors and project stakeholders.
  • Generate accurate inspection reports, quality documentation, and corrective action records in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams, project managers, and engineering personnel to resolve quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing defects, improving fabrication processes, and enhancing overall product quality.
  • Assist with quality training efforts and help reinforce quality standards and best practices throughout the fabrication facility.
  • Maintain organized and complete quality records in alignment with company procedures, customer expectations, and relevant industry standards.
  • Support pre-fabrication, fit-up, final assembly, and pre-shipment inspections to ensure product readiness and compliance prior to delivery.
  • Apply construction and industrial fabrication knowledge, including semiconductor and data center construction experience, to ensure quality on basebuild and mission-critical projects.
  • Use electronic quality documentation systems and construction management tools to record inspection activities and support project coordination.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of quality control or inspection experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, manufacturing, or industrial construction environments, with specific experience on basebuild projects.
  • Hands-on experience in QA/QC inspection for structural steel in basebuild and industrial construction settings.
  • Working knowledge of AISC standards and AWS welding codes, including AWS D1.1, with the ability to apply these standards in daily inspection activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, specifications, weld symbols, and construction documents.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and inspection tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other dimensional inspection equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify defects, inconsistencies, and quality concerns in materials, welds, and assemblies.
  • Ability to accurately document inspection results, generate clear reports, and maintain complete and organized quality records.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with production, engineering, construction management, and project teams.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including use of Microsoft Office Suite and electronic quality documentation systems.
  • Experience in industrial construction, structural steel, manufacturing, and mission-critical environments such as semiconductor or data center construction.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong team-oriented approach and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is preferred.
  • Additional quality-related certifications or technical training in inspection, quality assurance, or construction quality management are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of AWS D1.8 seismic welding requirements and their application in structural steel projects.
  • Experience performing weld inspections and reviewing welding procedures and welding documentation.
  • Previous experience in structural steel fabrication shops or industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies and corrective action programs to address recurring quality issues.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and working within formal quality management systems.
  • Understanding of material traceability, fabrication processes, and quality assurance methodologies in industrial and construction environments.
  • Proficiency with construction and project tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and construction management platforms.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 30 safety principles and construction quality management (CQM) practices.
Work Environment

This role is based onsite at a large advanced manufacturing and industrial facility in Phoenix, Arizona, supporting structural steel and industrial fabrication activities for mission-critical projects. The work is performed in a fabrication and construction environment that involves regular interaction with production floors, assembly areas, and inspection stations. Standard workdays are Monday through Friday, with start and end times and total hours to be determined based on project needs. The position involves frequent use of precision measuring tools, inspection equipment, and computer systems for documentation and coordination. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
