Job Summary:
Milton Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welding Engineer to provide technical support and expertise in welding processes, ensuring high-quality production and compliance with industry standards across our manufacturing operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and optimize welding procedures for various manufacturing processes
· Provide technical support to resolve welding-related issues in production
· Conduct weld inspections and ensure compliance with codes and specifications
· Collaborate with quality teams to analyze weld defects and implement corrective actions
· Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance weld quality and efficiency
· Maintain documentation and reports related to welding activities and procedures
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Works closely with Manufacturing & Engineering teams by acting as welding process subject matter expert on plant level launches, projects and activities.
· Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurables.
· Develop guidelines for design of manual, robotic and spot-welding fixtures.
· Recommend and develop preventative maintenance procedures for all plant welding equipment including robotic systems. Evaluate processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld parameters and weld efficiency.
· Guides designs, develops and tests welding methods, materials, processes and results.
· Support project engineering on new and existing programs.
· Champion assigned engineering changes, communicated and coordinated accordingly to all departments.
· Direct and or participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities, (8d reports, department, meetings. etc.).
· Establish welding/ joining methodologies for new materials and products.
· Conduct testing and metallurgical analysis as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Required
· Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with a variety of welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and resistance welding
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Education and Experience:
· B.S. degree in Welding Engineering or Materials Science from an accredited institution
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in welding engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment
Physical Requirements:
· Physically able to support shop-floor operations which include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working in industrial environments
- Must be able to travel up to 10-20% of the time needed
