Startec Compression & Process is dedicated to providing innovative solutions to meet your unique challenges and opportunities.  We are an integrated project and engineering equipment fabricator specializing in the modularized design and packaging of process, refrigeration, and rotating equipment solutions. Most of our solutions are related to Energy Transition and carbon reduction industries.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting a B-Pressure Welder to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).  Reporting to the Spooling Supervisor the successful candidate will be required to weld pipe spools to various codes and specifications within a fast-paced, detail-oriented shop environment. Shift Details: 4:20 p.m. -2:30 a.m.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B- Pressure Journeyman Welder certificate required
  • 2+ years experience in spooling and/or vessel welding
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and safely in a fast-paced shop environment
  • Be an active participant in the company’s safety program
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment functional
  • Successful completion of a Pre-employment drug and alcohol test
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):
Welding
  • Read and interpret company and customer-supplied drawings and specifications to ensure quality welds and alignment of work performed.
  • SMAW / GMAW / MCAW / GTAW weld processes
  • Read and interpret welding process specifications.
  • Layout, Fit, and weld components of piping spools
  • Weld within parameters of weld procedures
SAFETY
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Rig materials and equipment, utilizing overhead and jib cranes safely and effectively.
  • Participate in safety and company programs to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with fitters and Quality Control
  • Engage in project reviews with engineering and drafting teams to align on technical specifications and timelines.
