SUMMARY


Responsible for performing various MIG and TIG operations in accordance with approved technical data. Will also blend components as required and will braze components in accordance with technical data. Employee will attain applicable welding and brazing certifications for the requiring overhaul or repair.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position includes but is not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities.


  • Welding components in accordance with approved technical data.
  • Brazing components in accordance with approved technical data.
  • Prepare surfaces prior to welding and brazing operations.
  • Removing broken bolts and hardware.
  • Minor modification work such as blending, deburring, polishing, riveting and replacement of nut plates and bushings.
  • Assisting in the disassembly and assembly of power turbines and sub assembles using hand tools.
  • Preparing the final product for shipment.
  • Special projects as directed by supervision.
  • Shop and grounds clean up.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area and adheres to all housekeeping requirements. Follows all safety procedures and rules and properly wears all safety protective equipment as required.
  • Cleaning parts by hand using brushes, scotch brite, wire wheels, varsol and other various cleaning solvents and abrasive blast methods.
  • Conducts oneself in a businesslike manner and in the spirit of teamwork.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as ratios, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply the basic concepts of algebra, geometry, and shop math.
  • Must have good mechanical skills, a high level of manual dexterity including hand-eye coordination and the ability to accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, document, and use manufacturerโ€™s technical manuals, service bulletins, illustrated parts catalogs, assembly drawings, AOS sheets and WGP&W assembly records.
  • Must be able to effectively and safely use manufacturerโ€™s special tooling and lift and turn equipment.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


  • 3+ years of previous experience in the welding industry. Experience in the overhaul and repair of aviation components is a strong plus.
  • Certificate in Welding and Metal Fabrication is a strong plus.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls.
