American Denco Manufacturing, LLC (ADM) located in South Windsor, CT, is a subsidiary of The Hellan Strainer Company, an organization made up of engineering and manufacturing companies worldwide. The company produces specialized products for a wide range of industries, including naval, mining, steel, machine tools, rail, agriculture, marine, military, power generation, gas and oil, printing, packaging, food and beverage, textiles, material handling, aerospace, heat treatment, plastics, and more.
TITLE: WELDER

DEPT.: MANUFACTURING

REPORTS TO: Production supervisor/ Weld lead

EXEMPT STATUS:

JOB SUMMARY: Perform fitting and welding of structural and pipe weldments. Handle, cut, and perform weld preparation and completed welds in accordance with applicable welding procedures and codes. Use GMAW and GTAW welders and cutting and shaping tools to meet drawing requirements.

INTERACTION WITH: QUALITY

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures

2.Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on

3.Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)

4.Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

5.Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces

6.Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)

7.Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

8.Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

RECOMMENDED POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1.2-3 years work experience or equivalent school experience in welding profession.

2.Good understanding of inspection methods and techniques

3.Must be able to read/interpret blueprints and have a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

4.Forklift operating experience.

5.Good oral and written communication skills.

6.Some heavy lifting required.

7.Fabrication tooling knowledge (drill press, hydraulic press, band saw, belt sander)

ONGOING TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

1.Pass three weld tests to ADM procedures within the first month of employment: procedures to include GTAW stainless to stainless pipe, GTAW steel to steel pipe, GMAW steel to steel pipe or structural.
