Job description

Job Title: Shop Manager 

Stout Conveyors is a growing manufacturer in the construction equipment space and is looking to add a highly skilled and talented shop manager to our team here in Montrose, CO. Beyond talent, we are looking for a positive attitude and a drive for improvement above all – a real go-getter. Skills & Knowledge Requirements:  

  1. Leader: capable to leading 1-10 individuals at any given time 

  1. High level of problem solving 

  1. Extremely organized  

  1. Assembly experience: includes electrical, hydraulic and basic mechanical/fabrication skills 

  1. Communication skills, primarily through email 

  1. Knowledge of the methods and standard practices of welding, metals and fabrication 

  1. Well versed with all metal fabrication tools   

  1. Basic computer skills 

  1. Experience using basic hand tools and equipment 

  1. Capable of operating equipment such as forklift or tow motor for moving material  

  1. Ability to be creative and think outside the box to get something done 

  1. Strong math skills 

  1. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and capable of standing for long periods of time 

  1. Understand safety requirements for job description 

  1. Willingness to improve and continue personal growth  

Job Duties & Responsibilities:  

  1. Manage and schedule fabricators to stay on track with deadlines 

  1. Ability to use and review plans, diagrams, blueprints and work requests to determine designs, and project details. 

  1. Email communications with production to the team and work with purchasing to help plan your schedule. 

  1. Negotiation skills  

  1. Keep close eye on purchase parts and inventory stock 

  1. Fabricate by bending, cutting, burning, punching and welding various metals 

  1. Give feedback on production and ways to improve current processes 

  1. Ability to communicate and discuss current road blocks and upcoming situations in weekly meeting.   

Job Required: 

  1. Leadership skills 

  1. Experience with email communication 

  1. 5 or more years in the manufacturing space 

  1. Hustle mentality over perfectionist 

  1. High level of Attention to detail
