Job description

VISIT FLORIDA shares Florida sunshine with the world. As the state's official tourism marketing organization, VISIT FLORIDA has been charged with selling an extraordinary vacation product since 1996. As part of our Visitor Services team, we're seeking a customer service focused individual to fill our Welcome Center Assistant Manager position.
This position is located at our I-75 Welcome Center located in Jennings, FL.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the management of operations within Welcome Center, including opening and closing procedures. Work at the information counter or juice counter, greeting guests and providing materials and information. Serve as staff supervisor when Welcome Center Manager is scheduled off or away. Serve as a positive role model for the team by consistently maintaining an approachable, upbeat, and professional attitude.
  • Ensure welcome center team members are updated on new events, sponsors, and attractions within the state to provide correct information to visitors. Maintain Certified Information Specialist designation and support the training and development of the staff in the Certified Information Specialist program.
  • Manage the maintenance and repairs of equipment and within the facility, soliciting bids for repairs, supplies, equipment or maintenance.
  • Participate in the management of the Welcome Center budget, monitoring revenue and expenses.
  • Plan and implement promotional events and activities related to themed months. Work with industry representatives to implement programs, promotions, and displays.
  • Coordinate brochure distribution program within center. Order and maintain inventory of print media. Develop and maintain relationships within tourism industry leaders to solicit partnerships and rack space participation.

The Florida Welcome Centers' hours of operation are 8 am to 5 pm, seven days a week. This is a non-exempt 40 hour a week position with weekend work required. Additional scheduling specifics will be discussed during the interview process.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 + years of equivalent work experience.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work a front-line counter.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with flexible and positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace or Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain national certification as a Florida Information Specialist.
  • Ability to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs. regularly. Ability to stand, walk, and move freely through entire shift.
  • Position requires travel to periodic events, training sessions, and to support special events hosted at other Welcome Centers. Valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years supervisory or leadership experience.
