Job description

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
    • The primary role of the Patient Advocate is to assist patients in completing clinical clearances and insurance requirements. The Patient Advocate works in collaboration with the Bariatric Coordinator to facilitate patient flow through the health care system. The goal is to increase surgery volumes by decreasing time to surgery while maximizing patients' satisfaction. The Patient Advocate serves as the primary contact for all patient questions and concerns related to the Bariatric weight loss program at Berkshire Medical Center.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • Two years' experience working in a physician's office, hospital or health care setting.
      • Minimum of one year customer service experience preferred.
    • Education and Training:
      • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • CPR
    • Other Requirements:
      • Must demonstrate ability to use all Microsoft computer applications, proficient use of Microsoft Excel and word required.
      • Ability to work independently and maintain effective communication with the weight loss surgery team and patient population.
      • Experience with insurance and prior authorizations preferred.
