Job description

Weighmasters play a major role in how our customers feel when they enter and leave the facility. They are the first, last and sometimes the only Mazza Recycling employee a customer interacts with. The Weighmaster is an ambassador for Mazza Recycling. Weighmasters must have knowledge of all Mazza Recycling service offerings. The Weighmaster must be able to apply their training to correctly document Scale transactions. The Weighmaster works alongside the Scale Department and reports directly to the Lead Weighmaster.

Essential Functions

  • Manage accounts and answer questions
  • Greet and instruct customers in a client-centric manner
  • Collect tipping fees
  • Check email on an hourly basis during regular office hours
  • Communicate discrepancies and issues, and make suggestions for improvement
  •  Aid in reconciling customer accounts and issues with the Lead Weighmaster and Billing Specialist (Scale)
  • Collect and verify all regulatory paperwork, and licenses ensuring vehicles meet regulations
  • Cleaning of interior and exterior of assigned Scale
  • Weighmaster I (Requires New Jersey Weighmaster License):
  • Inbound – Scales 2 and 3
  • Outbound – Scales 5 and 6
  • Shipping and outbound grow trucks – Scales 1 and 4
  • All responsibilities above

Weighmaster II (Requires New Jersey Weighmaster License and proficiency in all Weighmaster I responsibilities):

  • Complete training in one of the following areas – Mazza Recycling Window, Mazza Scrap Recycling Window or Mazza Mulch Window
  • Gain ability to train new Weighmasters and assist with their questions
  • All responsibilities above

Weighmaster III (Requires New Jersey Weighmaster License and proficiency in all Weighmaster I and Weighmaster II responsibilities):

  • Complete training in two of the following areas – Mazza Recycling Window, Mazza Scrap Recycling Window and/or Mazza Mulch Window
  • Gain ability to correct paperwork and assist Weighmasters with problem-solving
  • Gain ability to identify and improve areas for Scale team’s performance enhancement
  • All responsibilities above

Qualifications

  • Weighmaster certification from Office of Weights & Measures
  • Previous customer service experience
  • AMCS preferred, but not required
  • Computer proficient, including Microsoft Office and data entry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Ability to work overtime and on weekends, if necessary
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
