Description:

Welding Technicians perform a wide variety of general sheet metal fabrication jobs, including MIG and TIG welding. Welding Technicians must work safely and efficiently on a large variety of parts to meet strict weld quality to exceed pressure test measures and close part tolerance requirements.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role may also routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements:

ยท Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, anything over 50 pounds must use approved apparatus or another person to assist.

ยท Must be able to wear welding jacket, welding gloves, and face shield at all times while welding.

ยท Must be able to bend, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.

ยท Ability to push/pull product on carts, racks, pallets, and shelves.

ยท Ability to see weld at closer distance to ensure weld quality.

ยท Ability to work with temperature fluctuations within the plant dependent on the season.

ยท Must wear required hearing protection.

Requirements:

Duties/Responsibilities:

ยท Sets up and operates a variety of MIG and TIG welders.

ยท Selects correct tooling and fixtures and adjusts equipment to correct settings.

ยท Adhere to strict safety and departmental guidelines.

ยท Should problems or discrepancies arise, confidently and clearly address with management.

ยท Perform operator machine maintenance including cleaning, monitoring for oil leaks, lubrication, listening for unusual noises, and identifying worn components.

ยท Versatile and capable of operating several machines and performing varied operations and assignments.

ยท Wearing required safety apparel such as safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, face shields, welding helmets, and follows all safety procedures relating to welding and fabrication.

ยท Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

ยท Performs other functions as needed based on business need.

ยท Ability to learn laser and plasma welding.

Competencies:

ยท High school education or equivalent preferred.

ยท Welding certification a plus.

ยท 2-5 yearsโ€™ experience welding in a similar welding environment preferred, though training will be provided for the right candidate.

ยท Weld (MIG/TIG) experience required.

ยท Reads and interprets blueprints, checking parts to prints to ensure that parts are manufactured to specifications.

ยท Reviews and interprets job aids and shop orders.

ยท Uses measuring instruments, such as verniers and gauges, to measure material, making necessary adjustments to ensure quality parts.

ยท Performs basic shop math calculations to correctly set up machines.

ยท Reads, interprets, and completes routine paperwork, including recording proper information.
