Job Title: Assistant Logistics Supervisor
Job Summary:
This part-time position (28 hrs/week) assists the Catering Warehouse supervisor with the preparation and service of Catered Events, both on and off-campus.
The position works in a variety of environments including:
  • Indoor and outdoor, on and off campus, and during all four seasons of the year.
  • Nights and weekends are necessitated.
  • Many days, dependent upon events, may run longer than a typical workday.
  • Pushing and lifting of heavy carts and equipment is common.
  • This is a physically demanding job and maintains a heightened level of stress as is typical with the Hospitality Service industry.
  • On-call hours are required.

What you'll do in this position:
  • Responsible for opening operation and closing procedures of the warehouse in absences of Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Assemble and organize products for Catered events (Rack-ups) according to production sheets and in collaboration with sales, culinary, and event coordinators.
  • Supervise the loading and unloading of event trucks for each event.
  • Supervise the cleaning and storage of all catering equipment including dishes, glassware, flatware, utensils, linen, chafers, and props.
  • Be the onsite point person for our employees in the field at our catering events.
  • Required to step into other departmental roles if positions are currently empty, if there is a lack of staff, or for call offs.
  • Certify to train and certify truck drivers in Catering.

What qualifies you for this role:
Education/Experience:
Required:
  • One year of previous experience in Catering or a similar field.

Preferred:
  • Two or more years of previous Catering experience.

A physical exam and lift test will be conducted as a part of the hiring process for this position.
  • Physical Effort: Moderate (Frequent handling of medium weight objects and materials (approximately 20-50lbs.). May require use of medium weight hand tools and climbing/working from ladders or in awkward positions.
  • Environment: Frequent Exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, or working in cramped, dirty, or unpleasant quarters.
  • Hazards: Frequent existing or potential hazards.

Typical Physical Efforts, Environmental Factors, and Hazards
  • Lift up to 50 lbs (30 minutes, daily)
  • Work in heat from dishwasher (30 min, multiple times daily)
  • Work in freezer with temps at or near - 10 degrees Fahrenheit (30 min, 3-4 times weekly)
  • Use cleaning chemicals (30 min, multiple times daily)
  • On feet standing (several hours, daily)
  • Repetitive motions such as reaching, stopping, pulling, crouching, etc. (2 hours, multiple times daily)
  • Work outside at events or travel to events in inclement weather (3 hours, frequency is subject to weather)

Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:
  • Handle fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions
  • Self-motivator, self-driven, time managed, and multi-tasker
  • Basic handyman knowledge and or skills is helpful
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record for 3 years and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass/comply with background, driver's record, and reference checks
  • MUST have experience operating a box truck
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • ServSafe FSM certificate (After Hire)
  • Non-CDL campus truck driving certification (After Hire)
