What are the typical challenges a Weekend Walker might face when managing multiple clients' schedules?

As a Weekend Walker, one of the main challenges is efficiently coordinating multiple clients’ requests, especially during peak times like mornings and early evenings. It's important to maintain a flexible and proactive approach, utilizing scheduling tools and maintaining clear communication with clients to ensure reliable service and satisfied customers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Walker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Walker, you need a good level of physical fitness, reliability, and a genuine love for animals, often supported by prior experience with pet care or dog walking. Familiarity with scheduling apps, GPS tracking, and basic first aid for pets can be highly beneficial. Strong communication, punctuality, and trustworthiness help build lasting relationships with clients and ensure pet safety. These skills and qualities are vital for providing consistent, high-quality care and fostering trust with pet owners.

Pet Sitter / Dog Walker

The Pet Parlor, Ltd

Munster, IN • On-site

Part-time

Posted 26 days ago

Job description

Love Animals? Get Paid to Walk Dogs and Cuddle Kittens.

Earn $10–17/hr caring for pets on a schedule that fits YOUR life. The Pet Parlor is growing across Porter and Lake County, and we're looking for our next amazing pet sitter/dog walker.

What's in it for you:

  • $10–17/hr (hourly rate + mileage pay + client tips)
  • Monthly tips added to your paycheck
  • Performance bonuses, contests, prizes, and fun perks
  • Liability insurance, bonding, and workers' comp — you're fully covered
  • Real support from our team — you'll never feel alone on a job
  • Oh, and free dog kisses. Lots of them.

What the job looks like:

You'll travel to clients' homes and take care of their pets — feeding, walking, medication administration, litter scooping, accident cleanup, and sending updates to pet parents. You'll also need to communicate promptly with our office and your fellow team members. Did we mention you'll be required to play with puppies and kittens? It's a tough gig.

Who thrives on our team:

Moms with kids in school. Retirees who want something meaningful to fill their time. College students who need a job that works around classes. Weekend-only folks. Morning or evening-only folks. We build YOUR schedule around YOUR life — not the other way around.

What we ask:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Full-time resident of Northwest Indiana (must live within our service area zip codes)
  • Available for 7+ hours per week (you can work more or less)
  • Looking for a long-term fit — we invest in our team and hope you'll grow with us

What our team says:

"It's the best job ever!" "It's my therapy from my other job!"
