Job description

Grand Canyon University Athletics is seeking a Student Creative Videographer to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU's Athletics Department.

Purpose within the Organization:

The purpose of the GCU Athletics Creative Videographer is to produce or assist full-time staff with production of video content for the Athletics Department. This includes pre-production, production and post-production of original video content. This position may also be called upon to assist with broadcast and livestream productions for athletic events.

*This job will require working evenings and weekends. It is fun and exciting, but a lot of hard work. Please apply if you are ready to roll up your sleeves and become part of a dynamic team of hard-working video professionals!

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

All GCU Athletics Creative Videographers will be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting our full-time staff with athletic creative video projects.
  • Will have opportunities to produce original content within the GCU brand from creation to conclusion.
  • Videography for sporting events, practices, and other athletic related events.
  • Producing video content related to social media, videoboard, broadcast, livestreams, other events.
  • Video content includes highlight videos, longform stories, interviews, features, hype videos, promos and more.
  • Assisting with pre-production and planning for both on location filming, such as scheduling shoots, writing interview questions, creating live event breakdowns, etc.
  • Aiding in data management and organization of digital assets.
  • Creative Videographers will also be called on to serve as crew members on livestreams for athletic events. (Positions include camera operators, replay operators, graphics operators, directors, and producers)

Equipment Used & Responsibility

  • Working knowledge of Sony Video Cameras or comparable creative video cameras
  • Working knowledge of Sony Lenses or comparable lenses
  • Working Knowledge editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud or Final Cut Pro
  • Live Event Equipment - Black Magic or Sony Cameras, Motion Rocket, 3Play, Black Magic Switchers
  • Frame.io for Video Uploads & Workflow
  • Knowledge and prior handling of equipment is a must, but learning opportunities with our full-time staff are available.

Qualifications:

  • Must have previous experience with video production including videography, editing, and or motion graphics.
  • An understanding of sports and sports terminology including basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball, swimming & diving, track & field, tennis, golf
  • A successful student candidate must showcase an excellent eye for creating captivating video, outstanding video production skills, deadline driven and well-developed sense of urgency.
  • Basic knowledge of camera operation, which includes operating a camera in a live event.
  • Flexible Schedule
  • Can showcase outstanding judgment in selection of b-roll and sound bites.
  • Ability to work quickly and produce quality video with short deadlines.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct interviews with a variety of subjects and extract meaningful information.
  • Being able to work independently and in a group.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, learn new skills, and learn new software.
  • Skills and experience in livestreaming a bonus.

Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to astudentfirst policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered forstudentemployment:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
