Job description

Description

Reporting to the Manager, Sports and Recreation, this position helps supervise on game days for J Baseball/Softball, a youth program. This position is active from mid-August to mid-October and may offer future options. Works approximately 5-10 hours/week on Saturdays and Sundays.


Essential Functions:

  • Assist in managing J Baseball Game Days by observing operations, responding to changing needs/conditions, providing hands-on assistance and communicating with coaches and parents
  • Supervise baseball umpires - will occasionally step in a officiate games as needed
  • Supervise and assist concession workers
  • Assist in overseeing maintenance of the J's five baseball fields and equipment, which may include hands-on field preparation

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in the recreation field
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to support evening and weekend programming
  • Works well independently and with co-workers
  • Excellent oral communications skills
  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Willing and able to officiate games if needed
  • Experience supervising others is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move freely around the Fitness, Sports & Aquatics facilities
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and push/pull 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time outdoors for up to 8 hours in various weather conditions
