Job description

The Senior Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Executive Health Practice ambulatory setting by applying the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care within the LVN scope of practice. Under the supervision of the LVN Supervisor, Director of Executive Health and Medical Director, and in accordance with Ambulatory Services policies and procedures, the LVN functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary care team. The Senior LVN assesses and identifies individual patient needs through observation, review of disease symptoms, emotional status, laboratory data (as delegated), cultural and socio-economic factors, and patient response to prescribed medical regimens and treatments. Nursing care is individualized to meet each patient's physiological, psychological, and psychosocial developmental needs.

Required qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of LVN experience in an adult ambulatory
  • Experience in an outpatient care setting- Primary Care Clinic or Family Medicine
  • Phlebotomy skills required - must be able to draw labs
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position, including demonstrated excellent communication skills, problem-solving ability, and high comfort level with learning new technology/systems
  • Proficient computer/keyboarding skills
  • Prior experience with electronic systems/recordsย 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Licensed as a Vocational Nurse in the State of California
  • This position requires flexibilityย to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • American Heart Association CPR certification
