This position is in our specialized portfolio enterprise where we serve diverse businesses who support unique customers or markets, including animal nutrition and health, bioindustrial, road safety salt and Cargill joint ventures.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor this role follows operational policies, operator care principles and procedures to operate equipment safely and efficiently to minimize or prevent injuries, property loss, and environmental damage. You will be required to operate independently and with a team. In these roles you may interact on a regular basis with customers, supervisors, plant personnel, and contractors.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure safe, timely and satisfactory completion of all mechanical maintenance work
  • Maintain and improve the plants preventive/predictive maintenance system
  • Lead problem solving and analyze results of maintenance repairs to ensure plant objectives are met
  • Maintain a professional relationship by active collaboration with other departments in the plant
  • Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English(verbal/written)
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Basic use of a computer and typing skills
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
  • Must be able to perform maintenance trades including gearbox and bearing, mechanical maintenance and lubrication.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • General maintenance, Forklift, Millwright or Electrical certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems
  • Previous experience in production-related work
  • Skilled in various maintenance trades, including electrical, machining, welding, pipe fitting, fabrication, rigging, pumps, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
  • Experience with MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) and/or MRP (Material Requirements Planning)
