The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) is recruiting for a limited term employment (LTE) Tugger Driver , to support our dedicated Activities team. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that provides comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10, between Stevens Point and Appleton, Wisconsin.

Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Activities Therapist Supervisor, this position loads, transports, and serves as the first line of maintenance and safety for members, member property, facility equipment, and tuggers/trams in the tunnel system between Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) buildings. The incumbent interacts directly with WVHK members and families, and provides high-quality customer service, offering information, addressing questions, and resolving issues. The majority of the position's duties are performed with limited day-to-day supervision.

Salary Information
Starting wage is $17.01 per hour with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. (pay structure, differential, any additional applicable pay provisions).
This job does not offer employee benefits.
Laborer is in pay schedule-pay range 03-08.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
LTE jobs have no guaranteed hours or shifts.
LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12-month period, are based on operational need, and can end at any time.
LTE's will be filling in for vacations and covering vacancies in a 24/7 facility including weekends and holidays. This position will primarily be responsible for loading and transporting members on special tugger/tram trailers within the tunnel system and outdoors, to and from appointments, to the Recreation Center and for scenic rides around the campus.
Physical and environmental conditions and requirements are not included but are not limited to:
- Ability to assist members weighing 350-600 pounds with mobility needs up trailer ramps.
- Pushing tugger trailers on wheels weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Frequently move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds (connecting the trailer units)

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Qualifications

- Valid Drivers License.
- Ability to meet and maintain standards for driving a State vehicle according to fleet management policies.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including moving and maneuvering loads of (450-600lbs) on wheels and at times in locations with steep grades.

- Working with elderly and/or disabled clients or with residents in a long-term care facility.
- Knowledge of first-level preventative maintenance techniques for motorized vehicles
- Ability to operate motorized passenger vehicle with trailers
- Skill in providing customer service and interacting with people with varied backgrounds and disabilities
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures for operation of vehicles and transportation of passengers
