Job description

AV/Audio Video Technician
About the Role:
An AV Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, configuration, and testing of commercial audio visual systems in office buildings, conference rooms, boardrooms, and corporate environments. This role focuses on permanent AV system installations during construction or renovation projects, not live event or concert production. Technicians work with integrated systems including displays, projectors, control systems, and video conferencing platforms to ensure fully functional meeting spaces.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Install and mount flat panel displays, projectors, projection screens, and interactive boards in conference room environments.
  • Install and terminate low voltage cabling including HDMI, CAT6, speaker wire, control wire, and fiber as required.
  • Install AV racks, patch panels, equipment shelves, and cable management systems.
  • Terminate and label AV cabling according to project standards.
  • Install and configure video conferencing systems including cameras, microphones, speakers, and control processors.
  • Work with control systems such as Crestron, Extron, AMX, or similar platforms.
  • Assist with programming and basic configuration of AV control systems when required.
  • Read and interpret AV schematics, signal flow diagrams, and construction drawings.
  • Test and troubleshoot signal flow, connectivity, and device functionality.
  • Coordinate with electricians, low voltage teams, and general contractors during build out phases.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas on active commercial construction sites.
  • Follow OSHA and jobsite safety protocols at all times.
  • Experience with commercial conference room builds and integrated AV systems is required, experience in live event, stage production, or concert sound environments is not applicable to this role.
Required Qualifications:
  • Reliable transportation and ability to report to the jobsite on time daily.
  • Valid driver’s license if required for the role.
  • Full PPE including hard hat, safety vest, steel toe boots, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Basic hand tools and trade specific tools as required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to take direction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts as needed.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Ability to work in secure or badge access environments.
