Job description

Commercial Title Insurance Processor

Reno & Cavanaugh, PLLC, a law firm with offices in Washington, DC, Nashville, TN, Columbia, MD and New York, NY, seeks a commercial title insurance processor for the real estate practice in our Nashville, TN office.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to work well both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment. Candidate will work on complex high-liability commercial real estate deals across multiple states. Strong administrative, time management, and communication skills are required.

As a commercial title insurance processor, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing support to attorneys with mixed-finance transactions, as well as on matters dealing with nonprofits, affordable housing, and low-income housing tax credit developments.
  • Underwriting purchase, refinance, leasehold, and construction commercial transactions, evaluating title search data, surveys, and zoning.
  • Drafting and issuing title commitments, policies, and endorsements in line with state-specific and national underwriting standards.
  • Reviewing and clearing title exceptions, resolving curative issues, and communicating with stakeholders to eliminate deal blockers.
  • Maintaining accurate file documentation and preparing reports on open files, issued policies, and revenue metrics.
  • Serving as the main contact for clients, attorneys, and title companies to provide and seek underwriting guidance.
  • Supporting compliance efforts through file audits, AR tracking, and adherence to firm and regulatory standards.

Required experience:

  • Two to four years in commercial title underwriting with experience in DC, MD, VA, or TN transactions.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in a large professional environment and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and title production and escrow software (e.g. SoftPro Select and Rynoh).
  • Active underwriter license(s) in DC, MD, VA, or TN preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial title insurance practices, escrow, ALTA standards, and legal documentation.

Reno & Cavanaugh offers an excellent benefits package which includes medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance, short and long-term disability; 401(k) retirement savings plan with a firm contribution; and a generous paid time off program. Additional benefits provided are health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, paid parental leave; family and medical leave; employee assistance program; and a pretax transportation benefit.

This full-time position is five days a week in the office, with an option to work a hybrid schedule of four days a week in the office after one year. May require overtime during peak periods or to meet deadlines. Time worked in excess of 40 hours per week will be paid at time and one-half of the hourly rate.

The salary range for this position is $50k to $90k depending on experience. Interested applicants should send their cover letter, resume, and transcript (unofficial is acceptable) to HR@renocavanaugh.com.
