Job purpose
This is a seasonal recreational position that is responsible for the safety and well-being of a group of children and participating in programs and activities at a country club.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Instructs, monitors and leads children in games, crafts, sports and other recreational activities.
  • Investigates and reports accidents as required by regulations.
  • Familiar with methods of dealing with problem behaviors of children in your care.
  • Must be courteous and exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with the Members.
  • Show professionalism, independence and willingness to learn on the job.
  • Must keep children safe and under constant supervision.
  • Must keep children hydrated and sun-screened when outdoors.
  • Must be able to communicate with parents and inform them of any important information about their children
  • Performs cleaning and light maintenance of assigned group area.
  • Responsible for safety and security of children at a facility; maintains safe conditions at a facility.

Qualifications
  • Relevant experience is preferable.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and enforcing department codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to display a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work effectively with children and to resolve disputes with firmness and impartiality.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and written.
  • Ability to move and set up equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require stamina for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in seasonal temperatures.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Working conditions
Work is primarily indoors with some outdoor exposure. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitor and develop subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas and write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 50 lbs. and up to 30 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load equipment that may weigh 30 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf's Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
