Housekeeper

POSITION SUMMARY

The Housekeeper helps create a joyful and vibrant community by maintaining a beautiful environment, keeping the community tidy, clean, sanitary, and pleasing to the senses. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supports dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
  • Performs the day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
  • Must have high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ensures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.
  • Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Follows established Infection Control practices when performing housekeeping procedures.
  • Must be capable of operating and maintaining all housekeeping/laundry equipment (i.e., commercial washer/dryer, buffing machines, etc.).
  • Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
  • Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings. Stays current on system assigned tasks and duties.
  • Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
  • Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
  • Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
  • Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision)
  • Maintains current food handler’s card.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; lifting 25-40 pounds constantly. Reaching below shoulder height frequently. Kneel; stoop and squat are required occasionally.
