Kamehameha Schools is looking for Temporary Groundskeepers to join the KS Kapalama Operations team. These are Temporary, Part-time positions, but have the potential to work up to 40 hours/week.
Targeted starting hourly rate is $24/hour.
* Tools/Equipment/PPE provided by KSK*

Job Summary
Entry-level position that works with direction and supervision to perform general grounds keeping, event set up services and provides assistance to other Groundskeepers and Utility Workers as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Groundskeeping Services
  • Reviews work to be performed in advance with Groundskeeper II/III to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigation to ensure safety.
  • Assists with assembling materials and tools for work to be performed.
  • With guidance, prepares work areas for work to be performed, and cleans work areas, machines, and equipment following work completion.
  • With direction, may independently perform general grounds keeping services.

Safety
  • Attends all technical and safety- training, including on-the-job training, uses all PPE, and adheres to safety guidance.
  • Reviews work to be performed in advance with Groundskeepers II or III to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigations to ensure safety.
  • Reports all safety hazards to supervisor and/or immediately corrects if able to.

Administrative
  • Participates in campus and department events and activities as scheduled.
  • Adheres to all employee handbook protocols and policies including mandatory reporting.
  • Constructively identifies and suggests ways to improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency.

Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Good work ethic, including punctuality and good attendance
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge; ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training and experience
  • Willingness to accept and follow directions
  • Ability to read and comprehend training materials
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety instructions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Often requires physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds

  • Manual dexterity and strength to work with hand tools.

Working Conditions (including environmental conditions)
  • Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and contact with hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, etc.
