Job Description

At Atlas, we're providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive, and if you’re an Environmental Technician (IH Building Science) ready to conduct and oversee hazardous materials and industrial hygiene assessments, including asbestos, mold, radon, and air monitoring services, from sampling and analysis through contractor coordination, reporting, and regulatory-compliant abatement oversight and are committed to doing meaningful work, then this is your moment. Core Responsibilities

  • Perform hazardous material surveys, asbestos-containing materials surveys, industrial hygiene testing services, mold and moisture testing services, air monitoring services for asbestos, and radon testing services.

  • Perform microscopic analysis for asbestos per Phase Contract Microscopy (PCM) analysis

  • Coordinating with gas utility contractors and abatement contractors, maintaining client schedules, and supervising contractors during abatement activities.

  • Collection of bulk and air samples for asbestos analysis, mold samples, radon samples, dust samples, and/or other industrial hygiene testing services.

  • NIOSH 582 certified analysist for PCM analysis in the field and office, data input, and report writing.

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • Bachelors of Science (Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geology, etc.)
  • Associates of Science acceptable with 1 year of experience
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Willing and active company Health & Safety participant
  • Be on time to work and available to work non-standard shifts, including nights and weekends with prior notice
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and PDF editing software
  • The following technical skill are preferred and considered a plus. However, Atlas will provide technical training as needed:
    • OEPA Certified Asbestos Hazard Evaluation Specialist License
    • ODH Certified Lead Risk Assessor License
    • OSHA Certified 40-hour HAZWOPER
    • LBP inspector/monitor certifications
    • NIOSH 582 course completion
  • Technical report writing, air sampling techniques, asbestos bulk sampling, lead chip and XRF sampling, fungal swabs, and air sampling
  • Loading and unloading equipment, tools, and ladders
  • Ability to lift up to 20-25 pounds
  • Ability to carry field equipment for an extended period of a work shift
  • Ability to safely climb ladders, including roof surveys
  • Ability to don personal fall arrest safety systems and harnesses
  • Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying field equipment
  • Ability to withstand temperature extremes while properly wearing PPE
  • Physical job locations may be located in dusty/moldy/hazardous/unclean/unsanitary environments (with proper PPE)
  • Ability to wear a respirator properly for an extended period of a work shift
  • Bending, being on knees, stooping
  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • Potential to work mid or nightshifts when working on a job specific project
  • Work Shifts may extend 8 to 12 hours.
