As a Technical Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in executing building automation projects across Wisconsin and Minnesota. This position operates at a branch level, supporting the branch and high-profile projects, including complex commercial installations, and mission critical sites.
This position requires flexibility and mobility, with assignments across Wisconsin, and Minnesota based on project demand.
Travel: 50% plus
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical expert for the field, diagnosing and assisting in resolving complex building automation and control system issues.
  • Provide on-site leadership during critical project phases, including first-of-kind startups, system integration, and customer demonstrations.
  • Train Field Engineers and Field Engineer Supervisors to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities across the team in Wisconsin, Minnesota and the North Region.
  • Lead field execution for complex and high-visibility projects, including commissioning and startup activities.
  • Conduct hardware and software design reviews, offering actionable feedback to engineering leadership.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on control retrofit opportunities by performing site walks, gathering technical data, and supporting proposal development.
  • Perform periodic energy audits with sales on selected customer sites to present a complete plan to customers for possible energy saving opportunities.
  • Act as a key technical liaison between customers and internal teams, delivering advanced troubleshooting and support.
  • Document system performance, commissioning results, and overall project status.
  • Perform quality control reviews, ensuring subcontractor installation meets standards, systems operate correctly, and all project deliverables are achieved.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience in Building Automation or HVAC Controls
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of DDC systems, controls hardware, and integration.
  • Experience with ALC platforms (WebCTRL preferred).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and resolve issues independently.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning processes.
  • Proven leadership experience mentoring field teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings.

Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
Other Compensation
This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
