Job description

We are hiring for both our Waterloo and Cedar Falls locations. Hours range from 7 am to 5 pm. This is a full time, Monday -Friday position starting at 32 hours+


Community United Child Care Centers is looking for a caring, dependable, and energetic Assistant Teacher to join our team! The Assistant Teacher works alongside the Lead Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, is a team player, and wants to make a positive difference in the lives of young children and their families.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher with the daily care, supervision, and education of children.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities and learning experiences.
  • Interact with children in a positive, respectful, and encouraging manner.
  • Follow classroom routines, schedules, and center policies.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision and remain in ratio at all times.
  • Assist with meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other daily care routines as needed.
  • Help maintain classroom cleanliness and organization.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and administration.
  • Support the Lead Teacher with required classroom documentation and HHS requirements.
  • Follow all health, safety, licensing, and center policies and procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with coworkers to provide consistent, high-quality care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience working with children is preferred.
  • Must enjoy working with young children and demonstrate patience, kindness, and enthusiasm.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and accept feedback.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of working in a child care environment, including sitting on the floor, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and interacting with children throughout the day.
  • Must be willing to complete all required child care trainings and certifications.
