The Surgical Resource Technologist for Surgical Technologist is an extension of the Perioperative Education Organizational Structure. The Surgical Resource Technologist assumes responsibility for all related activities related to surgical technical competence in the provision of high quality and safe patient care. Collaborates with Talent Development and Optimization, Technical Colleges and other content experts/educators to provide educational opportunities and improve student and staff competence. The Surgical Resource Technologist is a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for specific inquiry, advocate for advanced technology and a partner for specialty practice transitions. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with mission, values, and service standards of Mercy Health.Position Details:
Surgical Resource Technologist (CST/ST)

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Operating Room

Status: Full-Time - 40 hours/weekShift: 8 Hour Days (Mon-Fri) + Additional Call Hours Qualifications:
  • Experience: Significant amount of Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting.

  • Required Education: Successful completion of a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program.

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

  • Licensure: Surgical Technology Certification preferred. Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered with applicable surgical technologist experience.

  • Other:Must understand English both written and spoken. May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, and/or days of the week. Must have good working knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, sets and equipment. Work with contaminated instruments and equipment. Requires strict adherence to Universal Precautions. Must be able to work in fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations. Must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.

  • Physical requirements/demands:

    • Stand and walk most of the time on duty.

    • Lift/push patients on stretchers.

    • Lift/push equipment and instrument sets.

    • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.

    • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.

    • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
