Youngstown Pipe and Steel
Position Overview
Youngstown Pipe and Steel is seeking a candidate who has the ability to operate a flatbed straight truck to make daily deliveries of steel to our customers. The driver position does not require a Class A license but will require a medical card. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, follows safety and quality standards, has a good work ethic and excellent customer service skills.
Responsibilities
  • Safe operation of a flatbed straight truck and tow motor, along with a complete understanding of the vehicle capabilities.
  • Daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Completion of daily log and delivery paperwork.
  • Chaining/strapping/tarping loads prior to exiting
  • Inspect load before departure
  • Representing the company professionally with customers and using good customer service skills to develop business relationships.
  • Follow safety guidelines and report anything deemed unsafe.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and report any maintenance needed.

Skills, Abilities and Qualifications Required
  • Evaluate quality of load prior to departure and report anything that needs corrected.
  • Good customer service.
  • Understand the paperwork involved with each delivery.
  • Logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Good work ethic and attendance
  • Ability to read customer orders and follow safety regulations
  • Ability to work with others to accomplish daily requirements of the position
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to physically perform daily requirements of the position
