The Overhire Stage Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of rehearsal and performance for individual projects or productions produced by the Production Department in conjunction with one of Juilliard's Artistic Divisions.

The salary for this role is $31.98 per hour.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Perform all functions of theatrical Stage Manager for assigned project(s).
  • Oversee Assistant Stage Manager and/or Apprentice Stage Manager/s as applicable.
  • Work with Production Management to schedule Production Meetings as needed.
  • Produce and disseminate daily Rehearsal and Performance reports to communicate progress and questions from rehearsals and performances.
  • Create and distribute rehearsal calendar, contact lists, and other paperwork as assigned.
  • Work with the Production Management Office to establish and maintain a safe and functional rehearsal space.
  • Attend and run all rehearsals in a professional, efficient manner.
  • Coordinate with Production Shops to facilitate the use of rehearsal furnishings, props, costume, and hair/wig items when appropriate.
  • Create and maintain a prompt book for the show including blocking and all technical cues.
  • Coordinate and direct the work of the stage crew during technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances.
  • Call and execute all technical cues (and actors' entrances when required) throughout the technical and performance process.
  • Liaise with Front of House staff on all public-facing decisions such as but not limited to house open, start of show, intermission, and emergency/evacuation procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work well collaboratively as part of and in a team setting
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times in a fast paced, high intensity environment
  • Previous experience as a Stage Manager within the selected discipline(s)
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • The ability to multi-task and to work under pressure
  • Evening and weekend work as required

 

Preferred Background:

  • Experience working in an educational institution.

  • Ability to read music
