Description
1st Shift hours are from 7 AM-3 PM, Monday through Friday.
SUMMARY
Prepare capacitor elements into subsections. The assembly consists of arranging the elements into the correct position and inserting the connecting tabs. The elements are then compressed to a specific length as given in the work instructions. The capacitance value is checked with a Fluke meter to be within the range specified in the work instruction. The stack is then secured by applying fiberglass tape. Soldering of tabs onto copper sheet material is required. Work is performed in a clean-room environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Verify material you will work with is correct according to your work order.
  2. Inspect capacitor elements to ensure not damaged or dirty.
  3. Arrange elements into compression machine.
  4. Insert connecting tabs.
  5. Compress the elements and measure length and capacitance.
  6. Apply fiberglass tape.
  7. Solder end tabs to copper sheet.
  8. Responsible for Quality Control. No damaged product is sent to next work station.
  9. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  10. Complete daily production logs.
  11. Communicate with operators from other shifts.
  12. Clean and maintain work area.
  13. Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Assist Capacitor Unit assembler when building capacitor units to be loaded into the oven.
  2. Provide on-the-job training to new employees.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  3. Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
  4. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
  5. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are consistent with that of a manufacturing environment: loud, high-heat, and fast-paced. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 25 pounds and strict adherence to PPE protocols. Equipment operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses and steel toe shoes; loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Hair that touches the shoulders must be pinned up so as not to touch the shoulder. Work is performed in a clean room environment requiring a hair net to be worn.
