Position Summary 

Vadum is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will research, design, develop, and test software solutions that address complex technical challenges. You'll work throughout the research and development phases of the software development lifecycle, creating applications, developing prototypes, and contributing to innovative solutions that support mission-critical systems. 

The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver with strong software development skills, an interest in emerging technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Research new concepts and algorithms as it relates to the assigned programs; Creative application of designs to solve challenging customer problems. 
  • Analyze users’ needs and then design and develop prototypes and/or concepts to meet those needs.  
  • Understand and apply machine learning concepts to solve assigned problems and inform designs.  
  • Design specific pieces of an application or system and plan how the pieces will work together as assigned.   
  • Prepare documentation of designs to communicate results and share ideas with teams.   
  • Ensures that a program continues to function normally through software maintenance and testing.  
  • Documents every aspect of an application or system as a reference for future maintenance and upgrade.  
  • Develop software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation as required.  
  • Provide subject matter guidance to peers within the group and company.  
  • Responsibly and respectfully interacts with customers and suppliers to ensure customer satisfaction and project alignment.      
  • Analyzes and solves complex and unique problems across projects using innovative solutions.  

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field required.
  • 5+ years relevant professional experience required. 
  • Government security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain clearance. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to be flexible and learn new concepts and technologies on the job.
  • Experience with programming languages (JAVA, C/C++, Python/TensorFlow/Scikit-Learn, MATLAB, and ML frameworks).   
  • Familiarity with streaming data processing frameworks such as Kafka / Spark/ Hadoop is a plus.  
  • Familiarity with Functional Programming concepts and styles a plus.   
  • Ability to work effectively with senior engineers and translate results from complex analytics into elegant data products. 
  • Strong coding skills in a modern object-oriented language (e.g., C#, Java, C++).  
  • Ability to work effectively and comfortably with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and support staff. 
  • Proven record of technical leadership in their job area.    
  • Excellent communication skills.
