Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for a Computer Scientist / Software Engineer to join our team of technical professionals supporting Government customers and national security mission requirements. In this role, you will support the design, development, testing, and sustainment of software-intensive systems used in military command and control, cryptologic mission activities, and other weapons and intelligence systems.

The position involves working within Government-provided environments and adhering to established engineering processes, documentation standards, and development practices. As a member of the Specialty Systems team, you will contribute directly to software solutions that support critical defense and intelligence missions.

This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9hour days (M-Th) and an 8-hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9-hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3-day weekend every other week!


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Design, develop, modify, debug, and test software applications supporting mission-critical software-intensive systems
  • Develop, modify, debug, and test software applications primarily using C#
  • Support lab and operational site-based system testing
  • Support Agile development practices including sprint planning, tasking, and iterative delivery
  • Create and execute software unit and integration tests and document results in accordance with program standards
  • Support software/hardware and system integration, verification, and validation testing
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues across development, test, and operational environments and provide technical recommendations
  • Produce technical documentation and formal reporting as required
  • Participate in technical meetings, reviews, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) collaboration with Government and contractor personnel
  • Comply with applicable processes and guidance including government security and mission requirements


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications include:


  • Active Secret Clearance required at time of start
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Engineering/Science, or related technical discipline
  • 3–10 years of experience in software development, testing, and support

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience developing software using C#
  • Experience developing and executing unit and integration tests
  • Experience working on Agile software development teams
  • Experience preparing software documentation and technical reports

Desired

  • Experience with automated software testing frameworks
  • Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with user interface development
  • Experience using Git for source control
