A Weekend Software Engineer at Reddit is responsible for developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Reddit's software systems during weekends. Their duties often include implementing new features, fixing bugs, monitoring site reliability, and responding to technical issues that arise outside regular business hours. This role is crucial for ensuring Reddit’s platform remains functional and user-friendly at all times, especially during high-traffic periods on weekends. Weekend Software Engineers collaborate with other team members and may also contribute to on-call rotations to provide continuous support.
