Seemann Composites 5 Axis CNC Machine Operators are proficient in Computer Numerically Controlled machinery, machine safety and accuracy to perform a variety of functions. The goal is to produce high quality parts and materials by understanding 5 Axis Machine setup and operations as well as positioning of tooling for safe and efficient operations. Seemann Composites CNC Machine Operators must also be proficient in 3 Axis CNC Machines as well as CNC Lathe, Waterjet and small mechanical lathe and milling machines.

Essential Job Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Determine the fixtures, attachments and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications, and mount them to machine prior to beginning cutting
  • Discuss project specifications with engineers and supervisors to guarantee consistency between plans and products, and collaborate to modify designs when existing ones are not feasible
  • Conduct all programming as required (in 3 Axis).
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading mechanical drawings.
  • Monitor the run time throughout the cycle of operations of each event.
  • Modify machine speed, tooling and cutting style to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts
  • Oversee cutting process, make adjustments throughout each job, catch mistakes as they happen and take necessary measures to eliminate errors
  • Supervise machine temperatures, ensure that machine has adequate warm-up and cool-down time between jobs and replace coolant periodically
  • Review and interpret cutting plans, enter them into control outlets before jobs and alter them to correct mistakes when necessary
  • Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance tasks to ensure machine longevity, including lubrication, cleaning and tool replacement

Desired / Preferred Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • At least two years of experience operating CNC machines
  • Technical certificate preferred
  • 5-axis preferred
  • Comfortable using tools and maintaining machinery
  • Familiarity with programming and interpreting CNC software
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Values precision and enforces quality standards
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to read a tape measure, calculate volume and use precise measurements
  • Must have the ability to problem solve
  • Be detail oriented when performing tasks
  • Possess good hand-eye coordination

Essential Physical Requirements:
Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.
You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required.
Work Environment:
Precision work with small tools and parts requires excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
