Job description

Under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Assistant Athletic Instructor's primary responsibility will be to provide/ leaded detailed instruction in multiple sports including but not limited to soccer, basketball, flag football, volleyball, tumbling, and t-Ball.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for the overall experience, planning, and supervision of class while reporting to the recreation supervisor.
  • Utilize the Asst athletic instructor and athletic instructor for help on instructing, teaching skill development, and teaching course curriculum during class.
  • Be on time to all scheduled shifts.
  • Setup, Clean-up, and put away all equipment needed for each class.
  • If you are unable to make a shift, it is your responsibility to find a replacement staff member to cover. If unable to find a replacement, contact supervisor.
  • Stay informed of program offerings, session dates, pricing, and make-up policy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both participants and parents to build healthy relationships and encourage participation in other sport programs.
  • Understand and implement Bensenville Sports Conference Curriculum.
  • Promote other sports programs.
  • Take attendance regularly at the start of every class.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the program space and upkeep of equipment.
  • Possess the ability to manage conflicts that may arise in an appropriate and timely manner. If situation progresses, contact supervisor or authorities immediately.
  • Sport classes include, but are not limited to: soccer, basketball, flag football, volleyball, baseball, softball.

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Excellent skills in planning activities and programs
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with children, parents, and staff
  • Ability to solve problems that may arise
  • Must be energetic, have a positive attitude and be encouraging
  • Ability to enforce Park District rules and safety practices
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Certified in CPR/AED or the ability to acquire within 6 months (offered at park district)
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

JOB STATUS Part time DEPARTMENT Recreation FSLA STATUS Non-Exempt
SALARY $17.00 per hour
HOURS Various hours depending on program and park districts needs including nights and weekends when needed.
