Job description

Position Overview

Harmony United Psychiatric Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to join our team in a full-time remote capacity serving school environments in Portland, Oregon. This pivotal role is designed for a professional who is committed to enhancing the well-being of students and their families by providing essential mental health services, advocacy, and support tailored to their unique needs.

About the Organization

At Harmony United Psychiatric Care, we pride ourselves on our mission to empower vulnerable populations through holistic and person-centered care. Our commitment to social justice and community collaboration drives our innovative approach to social services. We specialize in a wide range of support areas, including case management, counseling, crisis intervention, and community outreach. By addressing social challenges such as homelessness, domestic violence, and substance abuse, we ultimately aim to uplift individuals and families and create meaningful change within our community.

Work Environment

This position offers the flexibility of remote work while providing services directly within schools. Fostering relationships with educational staff, caregivers, and community organizations, you will have the opportunity to work in a virtual setting that allows for balanced interactions focusing on student mental health and well-being. Regular business hours are expected, although occasional evening and weekend commitments may arise depending on client needs and program activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough and comprehensive assessments to identify clients' social, emotional, and environmental challenges, setting the foundation for effective interventions.
  • Develop and implement personalized service plans that clearly define goals, interventions, and ongoing progress evaluations in collaboration with clients and their families.
  • Offer individual and family counseling that assists clients in navigating various life challenges, including academic stress, familial issues, and mental health concerns.
  • Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning when necessary to ensure the well-being of clients in urgent situations.
  • Coordinate with school personnel and community agencies to integrate services and advocate for clients' needs effectively, reinforcing a supportive network around them.
  • Engage actively in community outreach efforts to raise awareness of available services and to promote agency initiatives aimed at enhancing educational and social support for students.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, case conferences, and professional development training to foster a collaborative work environment and to stay informed on best practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with school-aged children and adolescents experiencing a variety of psychosocial challenges. Your engagement will focus on providing tailored support to ensure that each child’s unique circumstances—such as family dynamics, academic pressures, and mental health needs—are addressed comprehensively. This position is vital in fostering stronger connections between students, their families, and the resources available to them.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Current and active state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social and economic justice issues, trauma-informed care, and best practices in mental health services.
  • Exceptional communication and collaborative skills, with a capacity to engage effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex client situations successfully.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in educational settings or with youth populations is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in case management, crisis intervention, or community outreach roles within social service agencies.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and support networks available for the vulnerable populations you will encounter.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this role ranges from $60,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance to support your health and well-being.
  • Retirement plans with employer matching to assist in saving for your future.
  • A generous paid time-off policy that includes vacation, personal days, and holidays, allowing for well-deserved rest and rejuvenation.
  • Opportunities for continuing education and professional development, ensuring you stay at the forefront of social work practices.
Career Growth Opportunities

We believe in continuous growth and development for our employees. As part of our team, you will have access to training and mentorship programs designed to enhance your clinical skills and expand your career pathways within the organization. Opportunities for advancement based on performance and initiative are supported, making Harmony United Psychiatric Care a viable long-term career option.
