Job description

Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent

Position Summary

The Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent is responsible for overall field leadership of large-scale earthwork and site development projects nationwide. This role provides strategic oversight of multiple crews and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Candidates must have strong site work experience, with a particular focus on data center projects. Extensive travel and the flexibility to work wherever projects are awarded.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide full field oversight for large earthmoving and site development projects.
  • Develop and execute project schedules in coordination with Project Managers.
  • Oversee grading, mass excavation, utility installation, and site infrastructure operations.
  • Lead Foremen and field teams to achieve productivity, safety, and quality targets.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Manage subcontractors and coordinate with engineers and inspectors.
  • Monitor project budgets, production rates, and cost controls.
  • Conduct regular progress meetings and provide leadership updates.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across project sites.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience of full circle site development within heavy civil construction, with 5+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Extensive experience in large-scale earthwork and site development projects.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, and production management.
  • Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work nationwide.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings: physical, drug, and background.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to navigate active construction sites safely.
  • Work may require extended hours, weekends, and travel assignments.
