Description:

As our Equine Key Holder, you'll lead the Equine, Pet & Feed department while working hands-on right alongside your team. You'll help stock feed, assist customers, and cover the department when needed, while bringing real expertise in equine, pet, and feed products to every customer interaction. We're looking for a dependable, hands-on leader who knows animals and feed, enjoys working with people, and is ready to grow with a company that values teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead the Department, Hands-On

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Equine, Pet & Feed department, working alongside sideyard, pet, and equine associates.

• Work with associates stocking feed, helping customers choose the right products, and loading/unloading merchandise.

• Be ready to run the department when needed, handling customer service, stocking, and daily operations independently.

• Coach and support associates in delivering great service and keeping the department to standard.

• Serve as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) for the store when scheduled, providing store-wide direction and support.

• Report directly to the Store Manager, helping carry out store and department priorities.

Deliver Outstanding Customer Service

• Provide knowledgeable guidance on equine, pet, and feed products, from nutrition and tack to general animal care essentials.

• Build trust with customers who count on accurate, genuine product knowledge for their animals' health and needs.

• Support associates across the sideyard, pet, and equine areas during busy periods, and assist customers store-wide when serving as MOD.

Support Daily Department & Store Operations

• Open and close the store following company security and operational procedures when serving as MOD.

• Complete cash handling responsibilities, including safe counts and register balancing, when serving as MOD.

• Keep the department clean, organized, fully stocked, properly signed, and ready for customers.

• Monitor feed inventory levels, rotate stock, and verify pricing and promotional signage are accurate.

• Identify and communicate operational, safety, or maintenance concerns promptly.

• Support company policies and procedures while helping maintain a safe environment for customers, animals, and team members.

What We're Looking For

• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Equine, pet, feed, farm, ranch, or agricultural retail experience strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of equine and pet care, feed products, and related supplies is a big plus.

• Comfortable being hands-on.

• Ability to remain calm, organized, and confident in a fast-paced environment.

• A genuine passion for animals, customer service, and supporting teammates.

• Reliable attendance and the flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly, including feed bags and hay, and safely move merchandise throughout the store and sideyard.

• Comfortable working around and handling feed, tack, and animal-related products as part of daily duties.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb ladders, and work outdoors in sideyard conditions throughout the shift.

• Comfortable operating store and sideyard equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts (training provided if needed), hand trucks, computers, and cash registers.

• Commitment to following all company safety policies and procedures, including those specific to feed handling and storage.
