Job description

Sales Center Engineering is the dedicated team supporting Redfin's high‑performing operations staff. We focus on enabling the support team to efficiently convert customer inquiries into sales through reliable communication and inquiry handling platforms. Our team builds and maintains a custom system for task prioritization and manages the Redfin Twilio calling infrastructure. By joining our team, you’ll have a technical leadership position that impacts hundreds of support staff and hundreds of thousands of customers.

About the Role

You will develop responsive, resilient, scalable, and high‑quality software using React, Java, Postgres, and various other tools and libraries. You will balance the trade‑offs between complex infrastructure investments and quick, pragmatic solutions to meet specific business needs. You will collaborate with other engineering and non‑technical stakeholders to define, design, and lead the development of significant multi‑person projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop responsive, resilient, scalable, and high‑quality software using React, Java, Postgres, and other tools/libraries.
  • Balance trade‑offs between complex infrastructure investments and quick, pragmatic solutions to meet business needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and non‑technical stakeholders to define, design, and lead development of significant multi‑person projects.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers, providing technical leadership and advocating for best practices.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions are innovative and competitive.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience specifically in React and Java.
  • Proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining scalable, high‑performance web applications.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage AI tools to enhance efficiency and productivity is highly desired.
On‑Call Expectations

This role may include participation in an on‑call rotation to support production systems and ensure service reliability. On‑call responsibilities may include coverage during nights and weekends. If applicable, frequency and scheduling will be determined by team needs and communicated accordingly.

Benefits & Compensation

Compensation for this position is $166,900.00–$203,900.00. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, incentives, and other employment‑related benefits including medical, dental, and vision benefits, a 401K retirement plan, and paid‑time off.
