Job description


East Coast Scrap Metal is looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to join our team as General Laborers and Torch Cutter. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced scrap metal recycling facility. Employees will assist with receiving, sorting, processing, and preparing recyclable metals while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This is a full-time job.
No scrap metal experience is required, we are willing to train the right candidate. We are looking for employees who are reliable, have a strong work ethic, and enjoy physical work.
Responsibilities

  • Sort and separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Assist customers unloading recyclable materials.
  • Load and unload trucks using proper safety procedures.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely.
  • Clean and maintain work areas throughout the day.
  • Identify and remove non-recyclable materials.
  • Assist equipment operators and warehouse personnel as needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform general yard maintenance, including sweeping, shoveling, and housekeeping.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, climb, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Willingness to work in an industrial outdoor environment.
  • Ability to follow directions and work well with a team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Forklift, skid steer, or heavy equipment experience is a plus but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a big plus but not required.
