Job description

Nucor is North America's largest recycler and most diversified steel and steel products company. Since 1969, we've led the industry in developing innovative technologies for recycling scrap into high-quality steels that are all around us, from bridges and buildings to cars and appliances. Basic Job Functions: Vulcraft and Verco Decking, divisions of Nucor Corporation, are leading manufacturers of steel joists and decking products serving the Western U.S. market. The VVG West team is seeking a Sales Engineer to expand Vulcraft and Verco’s presence in the design and construction community throughout Arizona and Southern Nevada. The successful candidate will be a relationship-driven professional who thrives on connecting with contractors, structural engineers, and architects to promote innovative framing and decking solutions that deliver value to building projects. Key responsibilities include: Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, design firms, and construction stakeholders to position Vulcraft and Verco as trusted engineering partners. Apply structural engineering expertise to support the design and application of steel joist and deck systems, emphasizing performance, constructability, and overall project value. Engage with the AEC community through technical presentations, seminars, and industry events to share knowledge and promote best practices. Collaborate on early-stage project planning to identify opportunities for product integration, specification, and design optimization. Partner closely with Vulcraft and Verco’s Sales and Engineering teams to align technical guidance with project and market objectives. Collect and communicate feedback from the field to help improve design tools, guide product innovation, and enhance Vulcraft and Verco’s reputation for technical excellence and responsive service. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management from an ABET – Accredited institution. Minimum 3 years of working experience in Structural or Construction Engineering. Proven client-management experience, including serving as a point of contact for clients, contractors, and the design team on a project. Willingness to travel regularly to meet with clients and attend industry events. Detailed Selection Criteria: Experience in structural engineering and/or construction management. Strong knowledge of building design and construction practices. Familiarity with steel joist and deck systems or related structural products. Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts in clear, engaging terms. Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. Experience in business development or technical sales within the AEC industry. Integrity, initiative, and self-motivation. Team collaboration and cross-functional coordination. Preferences: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM). 4 years of working experience in Structural or Construction Engineering. Experience in preconstruction decision making.
